What inspired you to become a veterinarian?

The veterinary profession appealed (and continues to appeal) to me because there is a great opportunity to positively affect the lives of people and their animals every day.  I have a profound respect for the different ways animals enrich people’s lives and I believe that people are entrusted to take care of animals.  I chose a veterinary career because I can make use of my scientific background, interests in medicine and surgery, comfort around animals, and desire to help people.

What is your favorite aspect of practicing veterinary medicine?
I like trying to figure out medical and surgical problems within real-world, practical constraints.  I enjoy working with pets of different species and forming bonds with them and their owners over time. I also enjoy working with and learning from our talented, smart, skilled, passionate, and hardworking staff at Broadview.

Is there one particular area of veterinary medicine you gravitate towards?
I enjoy general practice and gravitate towards soft-tissue surgery (including laparoscopic surgery) and dentistry.

What is something that you are proud of, and why?
I am proud to be a member of the Broadview team.  I am proud that we remain a privately-owned, independent hospital  group that constantly strives to take care of our clients in their time of need.  I am proud that we build teams to treat patients like they are our own.

My goals are to constantly improve my skills and knowledge and help Broadview continually refine how we can offer the best quality veterinary care with compassion.

Dr. Kinnison practiced at two other animal hospitals in New England before joining our Broadview team in 2007. In 2020 she became the Medical Director for our organization.
