Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant – Reproductive Medicine
Full-Time | Broadview Reproductive Services | Dover, NH
You already know veterinary medicine. Now imagine taking your technical skills somewhere where most veterinary professionals never have the opportunity to go.
Broadview Reproductive Services is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant who is ready to expand their skills, challenge themselves, and become part of a highly specialized area of veterinary medicine.
You do not need reproductive medicine experience.
What we are looking for is someone with a strong veterinary foundation, solid technical skills, curiosity, and the desire to keep learning. If you bring that, we can teach you reproductive medicine.
This Is Not Your Typical Technician Position
Our Reproductive Services team works with canine breeders throughout New England and beyond, managing cases that range from routine breeding management to infertility workups, assisted reproduction, high-risk pregnancies, neonatal care, and surgical procedures.
Our technicians are directly involved in medicine.
Depending on the case and your experience level, your work may include:
- Semen collection, evaluation, processing, freezing, and preparation
- Ovulation timing and breeding management
- Transcervical and other assisted insemination procedures
- Pregnancy evaluation and reproductive ultrasound
- Infertility workups
- Surgical anesthesia and patient monitoring
- Planned and medically necessary C-sections
- Neonatal care and puppy resuscitation
- Pre-breeding health and genetic screening
- Client education and breeder communication
- Laboratory work and reproductive diagnostics
- General patient care and technical support
Broadview is also an International Canine Semen Bank (ICSB) facility, allowing our team to participate in specialized services including semen evaluation and storage, frozen semen services, international semen shipment, and epididymal semen collection.
Our reproductive veterinary team includes doctors who are members of the Society for Theriogenology, with advanced training and particular interests throughout reproductive medicine.
For the right technician, this is an opportunity to develop a skill set that goes far beyond what is available in most general practices.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys veterinary medicine and wants more from their career.
You may be a great fit if you are someone who:
- Enjoys technical, hands-on medicine
- Wants to understand the “why” behind what you are doing
- Getting excited about learning new procedures and developing new skills
- Is comfortable in a busy, fast-moving medical environment
- Communicates confidently and compassionately with clients
- Takes pride in being dependable and contributing to a team
- Can shift between patient care, procedures, laboratory work, client education, and surgical cases
- Wants to become exceptionally good at an area of medicine rather than simply performing the same tasks every day
Reproductive experience is absolutely a plus, but it is not required. We would much rather find the right experienced veterinary professional and provide the training necessary to help them grow into this specialty.
Required Experience
A minimum of two years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant is required for this position.
Candidates should already have experience with many of the fundamentals of veterinary patient care, including:
- Venipuncture
- IV catheter placement
- Injectable medications and vaccines
- Radiography
- Surgical preparation and patient monitoring
- Routine patient care and restraint
- Nail trims and basic procedures
- Bandaging
- Medical documentation
- Client communication
You do not have to walk through our doors knowing everything. You do need to walk through them ready to learn.
Why Broadview?
Broadview is a privately owned, AAHA-accredited veterinary group that has served our community for nearly 40 years.
We have grown because we continue to invest in our people, our medicine, and the services we can provide our patients and clients. Our hospitals offer a broad range of general, urgent, surgical, orthopedic, diagnostic, and reproductive medicine, supported by technology including digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy/arthroscopy, therapy laser, cloud-based medical records, and advanced in-house laboratory capabilities.
But equipment and technology are only part of what makes a hospital worth working for.
We want talented people to have room to learn, contribute, specialize, and build careers here. Our Reproductive Services department is a perfect example of that philosophy. This is a specialized team where technicians can develop expertise, take ownership of their work, and become an important part of cases from the initial reproductive plan through pregnancy and, often, the arrival of a litter.
There aren’t many veterinary technician positions where your day might move from reproductive diagnostics and semen evaluation to anesthesia and a C-section to helping care for and stabilize newborn puppies.
Here, that can simply be Tuesday.
