Important Update to Our Pharmacy Prescription Policy

At Broadview Animal Hospital, our highest priority is providing exceptional care for your pets while delivering timely, compassionate service to you our valued client. To help us maintain this commitment, we are implementing an important update to our prescription approval process.

Effective February 1, 2026, we will no longer approve pharmacy prescription requests submitted directly by outside online pharmacies. Note: This applies specifically to independent online pharmacies (e.g., Chewy, 800PetMeds, PetRX, Amazon etc.). It does not apply to pharmacies operated by or directly affiliated with Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, or other local stand-alone pharmacies.

This decision was made thoughtfully, as processing these outside requests has become increasingly time-consuming and has impacted our ability to focus on the level of care and customer service we strive to provide. We want to dedicate our time to what matters most—caring for your pets.

Three Available Prescription Options Moving Forward:

  • In-Hospital Purchase: Our team is happy to review the medications and products we carry in-house, including pricing and any available discounts. To request, click here.
  • Broadview’s Online Pharmacy: Order medications and preventatives conveniently and securely through our trusted online pharmacy, facilitated by Covetrus, with easy accessibility through our website including pricing and any available discounts. To visit, click here.
  • Written Prescription: If you prefer to use another online pharmacy, we will gladly provide a written prescription for you to pick from the hospital, that you can submit directly to the pharmacy of your choice.

We understand this is a significant change, and our team is here to support you every step of the way. To help support you during this transition, upon receiving a prescription request from an outside online pharmacy, a follow-up email from a dedicated pharmacy professional at Covetrus, our online pharmacy, will be sent to you. This email will present the option to conveniently purchase your pet’s medications directly with us. If you choose to decline, the dedicated pharmacy professional will then contact you personally to discuss your needs and help identify the best options for your pet’s prescriptions. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or to discuss which option best fits your pet’s needs. We are here to make this transition as smooth as possible.

  • Reputable Vendors: You can feel confident that medications and preventatives that are purchased in-hospital or through our on-line pharmacy come directly from reputable vendors and reduce the risk of counterfeit, short dated or mishandled products.
  • Competitive pricing: We work hard to keep our pricing fair and transparent. When coupons, rebates or reward programs are available, we will make sure you are informed. In some instances generic medications may be appropriate, please ask your veterinarian.
