Veterinary Receptionist

Full-Time | Portsmouth, NH

Broadview Is Growing — Come Grow With Us!

Big news! Broadview Animal Hospital is growing from three hospitals to four with the opening of our brand-new Portsmouth, New Hampshire location this fall!

As Broadview continues to grow, we’re building the team that will bring our newest hospital to life — and we’re looking for Veterinary Receptionists to join us in Portsmouth.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established, trusted veterinary organization while also being part of something brand new. You’ll have the chance to help create the welcoming, supportive client experience our Portsmouth patients and families will know Broadview for from the very beginning.

For more than 40 years, Broadview has provided exceptional veterinary care throughout New Hampshire’s Seacoast and Southern Maine. We’re proudly privately owned, veterinarian-led, and AAHA accredited, with a culture built around exceptional service, teamwork, and giving great people opportunities to grow.

Be the Warm Welcome Our Clients and Patients Can Count On

Our Veterinary Receptionists are at the center of the client experience and play an incredibly important role in keeping each day running smoothly.

From the moment a client and their pet walk through our doors, our reception team is there to make them feel welcomed, cared for, and confident that they’ve come to the right place.

You’ll greet clients and patients, help get appointments checked in and moving, capture patient weights, assist with food and prescription pickups, manage emergency phone lines, support the flow of appointments throughout the hospital, process payments, and help clients navigate whatever they may need during their visit.

This is much more than working at a front desk.

Veterinary medicine can be fast-paced, emotional, unpredictable, and incredibly rewarding. Our receptionists may be welcoming an excited new puppy owner one moment, helping a worried pet parent the next, and coordinating with a busy medical team at the same time.

It takes warmth, empathy, patience, strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to find solutions while keeping things moving.

Most importantly, it takes someone who genuinely enjoys helping people and wants every client and patient who walks through our doors to feel welcomed and cared for.

What You’ll Do

  • Warmly greet clients and patients as they arrive
  • Check patients in for appointments and help maintain a smooth flow throughout the hospital
  • Obtain and accurately document patient weights
  • Assist clients with prescription and pet food pickups
  • Manage incoming calls, including emergency phone lines, and help connect clients with the appropriate team members
  • Support appointment scheduling, confirmations, and day-of appointment needs
  • Communicate closely with doctors, technicians, assistants, and other hospital teams
  • Help answer client questions and identify solutions when needs arise
  • Process payments and complete client checkout
  • Maintain accurate client and patient information
  • Assist with medical records and other front-desk administrative needs
  • Help maintain an organized, warm, and welcoming reception and lobby environment
  • Provide compassionate support during both routine visits and more difficult or emotional moments
  • Help create an exceptional experience for every client and patient who comes through our doors

What We’re Looking For

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years of customer service experience.

Previous veterinary experience is strongly preferred, but we also recognize that great Veterinary Receptionists can come from many different backgrounds.

Experience in human medical or dental reception, veterinary hospitals, grooming facilities, dog daycare or boarding facilities, animal shelters, rescues, or other professional animal-care environments can provide an excellent foundation for this role.

We’re especially interested in candidates who have experience working directly with the public in busy, service-focused environments and understand how important kindness, communication, follow-through, and finding solutions are to a client’s experience.

We’re looking for people who are:

  • Warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming
  • Kind and compassionate with both people and animals
  • Exceptional communicators
  • Strong customer-service professionals
  • Solutions-driven and comfortable problem-solving in the moment
  • Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Able to multitask while remaining organized and attentive
  • Calm and empathetic when clients are worried, frustrated, or emotional
  • Confident handling phone and in-person client needs simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented and dependable
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with medical and client-service teams
  • Flexible and willing to jump in wherever help is needed
  • Team players who take pride in creating a positive experience for others

Why Broadview?

  • Privately owned and veterinarian-led
  • AAHA-accredited hospitals with high medical standards
  • Supportive, collaborative team culture
  • Approachable leadership invested in employee success
  • Training and opportunities for continued growth
  • Flexible scheduling that supports work-life balance
  • A growing four-hospital organization with opportunities for continued development
  • The opportunity to help shape the culture and client experience of our brand-new Portsmouth hospital
  • More than 40 years of trusted veterinary care in the Seacoast community
